If you’re like me, you’ve seen all the posts about shampoo and conditioner bars, touting a clean, eco-friendly, better-for-you product. Earthling Co. kept popping up in my feeds and after years of trying to find a shampoo and conditioner I actually liked, I caved and bought a set to try. At this point, I was desperate. Here’s the backstory
First let me give a run down on the products I tried. I was using Maui which worked well and for the price I was okay with it but I just wanted more from my haircare products and for the health of my hair. When I was living in Australia, I tried Thanks to Nature, but many of those have hydrolysed wheat protein and were making me sick. I switched to coco and Eve which I think worked well for a while. Again, I wasn’t LOVING my hair. I tried Monat, and Vedix and Pump and eventually went back to Coco and Eve just searching for something better! These worked fine but for the price, I didn’t see a huge return on investment. All was fine until the clock started ticking for my wedding! Vedix did help with hair loss but the cost was just too much!
One shampoo went horribly wrong!
I got sucked into trying Prose… I thought, a customised hair care routine sounds like what I need! So I filled out their quiz and got matched with a specific shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, vitamins, the WORKS! I gave it a try. After three washes My hair became dry, brittle, and looked utterly lifeless and I LOST all my curls which made me so sad. I FREAKED OUT! Then, after seeing about 500 ads on all the socials, I figured, what do I have to lose at this point? I’ll try Earthling Co and if it doesn’t work, I’ll concede this quest to find healthy haircare that actually works. I don’t like the generic hair products that are loaded with harsh chemicals. I Had Never Tried Shampoo Bars Before This
When I received the shampoo and conditioner bars, I was skeptical, I won’t lie. I didn’t think it would get sudsy, or clean, or really do anything but I figured, if that was the case, I spent less on the shampoo and conditioner set than one bottle of shampoo from most of the other companies I had tested. My main fear was, if this didn’t work, I had about 2 months left before my wedding, what was I going to do?
The first time I tested these bars, I audibly gasped with how sudsy my hair got. Like, I could basically build bubble structures in my hair! My hair felt clean but nourished unlike some of the other companies where my hair just felt striped of all the essential nutrients it needs. When I applied the conditioner, I simply could not stop playing with my hair because if felt soft, smooth, and revived. When I got out of the shower and let my hair air-dry like normal. So many times I caught myself smelling my hair, because it was such a nice, subtle citrus note, and playing with my hair because of how soft it was and I quickly realised I had a problem!
The Verdict….
I was hoping to see an improvement in my hair texture, shine, health, and hopefully reduce hair loss within two months, due to my wedding. I saw an improvement after the FIRST wash and after TWO washes, my hair was even better. Needless to say, I was (and still am) OBSESSED with Earthling Co. shampoo and conditioner bars. Within two washes, my hair went from dull, lifeless, brittle, and basically dead, to full, shiny, and I had my natural curls back!
In that moment, I knew my hair would be exactly what I dreamed it would be on my wedding day and its thanks to Earthling Co shampoo and conditioner bars. The bonus? The price is so reasonable and the bars last two to three months for me. The problem? I want to try all of their products! What was my mistake? Not switching sooner when I first saw the ads. It would have saved me a lot of time, money, and given me better hair sooner!
